The male condom failure rate?

So my sources (planned parenthood) tell me that with typical use, the condom fails 14% of the time. Is this implying that if you have sex 100 times, 14 out of those you%26#039;ll get pregnant. I know the statistics don%26#039;t apply to everyone, though.

And, Planned Parenthood says that spermicide foams/jellies/films have a failure rate of 26%. So spermicide+condom failure rate = .14 X .26 = 3.64% chance of failure. Is that correct math? Would that be what I need to multiply to find the failure rate of condoms + spermicides?

The male condom failure rate?

The math is wrong, and the failure rates aren%26#039;t that simple.

During a year of typical condom use, 14 out of 100 women will become pregnant. During a year of perfect condom use, that number drops to 3 out of 100 women becoming pregnant. Just for the record, 21 percent (typical use) and 5 percent (perfect use) of women who use the Reality female condom experience an unintended pregnancy within the first year of use.

When trying to understand the effectiveness of condoms and other forms of contraception, it is helpful to know the definitions of %26quot;perfect use%26quot; and %26quot;typical use.%26quot; %26quot;Perfect use%26quot; means that a form of birth control is used consistently and correctly all of the time. %26quot;Typical use%26quot; means it is used inconsistently or incorrectly some of the time and consistently and correctly other times.

When using spermicide and condoms TOGETHER, if used correctly, it would only make sense that the failure rate would go down, not up. Your math would make it 364%, not 3.64

EDIT: Lube with a condom is NOT a bad idea as the poster after me has stated. Using a condom with WATERBASED lubricant is a GOOD IDEA. (Just don%26#039;t use oilbased or anything that would disrupt the integrity of the condom -- CHECK THE LUBE LABEL) It will eliminate friction and friction causes condoms to BREAK which would obviously increase the risk of pregnancy exponentially...

The male condom failure rate?

Not sure on the math part, but here are a few good tips - don%26#039;t buy %26quot;cheap%26quot; condoms. (meaning don%26#039;t buy them from somewhere questionable, and if you don%26#039;t recognize the manufacturer, it may also be a bad idea). Most condoms come in a form with spermicide already in it, which makes for less mess. The only sure-fire way not to get pregnant is absenance, but if you%26#039;re not up for that, spermicide + condoms is a good equation. Good luck!

The male condom failure rate?

I think the only way to know for sure is to have sex 100 times and see if you end up with 14 babies.

The male condom failure rate?

to be honest if u mix those too, ur failure rate increases. Because spermcide can also act as a lube in some cases, and lube with a condom is a really bad idea...

The male condom failure rate?

Looks like the math is correct. The statistic that is more correct 100% of the time is using no protection at all. So, foams, jellies, spermiicide and snow tires all perform very well. Not taking the condom off correctly is also cause for worry. Make sure you remove and no mistakes -- OK.. What happened to the pill??? No sex is 100% protection--OK
